Privacy Policy for AI Car Recognition
Last updated: October 6, 2026
1. About this app
AI Car Recognition, provided by Oana Rinaldi, identifies the likely make, model and approximate year of a car from a photo. AI results are estimates. Contact: contact@oanarinaldi.com.
2. Photos and your consent
You choose a photo using the system photo picker or camera. Before analysis, the app asks permission to send the selected photo to OpenAI. With your own API key, it goes directly from your device to OpenAI. With Plus or Pro, it passes through our Cloudflare service to OpenAI. The app resizes the image and does not include the original photo file’s location metadata. Avoid including people, licence plates or other private details. We do not retain uploaded photos or identification results in our server database. Your current photo and result are held in app memory until replaced or the app closes.
OpenAI processes images and requests according to its API data policies. Requests set storage off. This does not remove OpenAI’s separate abuse monitoring or other applicable retention requirements. Cloudflare provides hosting, network processing and security; see its Privacy Policy. Processing may occur outside your country, subject to the providers’ applicable safeguards.
3. Free use and API keys
Free users supply their own OpenAI API key. It is kept in the device’s secure Keychain and sent only to OpenAI to authenticate direct requests. It is never sent to our backend or included in analytics. Remove it at any time in Settings. OpenAI API charges are billed separately by OpenAI; a ChatGPT subscription does not include API usage.
4. Paid plans and information we store
Plus and Pro use our server-held API key. We store a random account identifier, Apple purchase and transaction identifiers, subscription product, environment and expiration, daily usage counts, and request status, timestamps, model and token/cost totals. These records are linked to the random account identifier and are used to verify purchases, enforce allowances, restore access, handle refunds and support the service. The identifier is stored in Keychain and may sync through your iCloud Keychain settings. We do not ask for your name, email, address or payment card details. Apple processes subscription payments under its own privacy policy.
5. Purposes and retention
We process selected photos to provide the analysis you request, and subscription/usage records to provide the service and prevent duplicate purchases or misuse. Photo sharing is under your control. Account and usage records remain until you delete your server data or request deletion. After deletion, transaction identifiers and minimal purchase-verification records remain unlinked from your account to prevent replay and meet applicable record obligations. Hosting providers may retain their own network and security records under their policies.
6. Your controls and rights
In Settings, you can revoke photo-analysis consent, remove your API key, or use “Delete My Server Data” to delete your server plan link and usage history. Deleting data does not cancel an Apple subscription: cancel through Apple subscription settings. An active subscription can be linked again using Restore Purchases. You may request access, correction, deletion or restriction of your data at the contact address above; include the Support ID shown in Settings so we can locate your records. Where applicable, you may object to processing, request portability or complain to your local data protection authority.
7. Tracking, advertising and children
We do not use advertising, cross-app tracking or third-party analytics SDKs, and we do not sell personal data. The app is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us so we can help remove it.
8. Security and changes
Requests use HTTPS, personal API keys use Keychain, and our developer API key remains on the server. We update this policy when our practices change and show the latest date here.
